At Current Automotive Design, we keep the safety of you and your family in mind when choosing the right High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED Lighting system that is just the right one for your vehicle and your driving style. There is a difference between High Intensity Discharge (HID) Auto lighting and Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) auto lighting.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting replaces the filament of a light bulb with a capsule of gas. The High Intensity Discharge light is hermetically sealed inside a small quartz glass tubular bulb. The light that is produced is greater than a standard halogen bulb while consuming less power. The High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting is close to the color temperature of natural daylight. In High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting produce about 5 percent light output when first lite, requiring 15-20 seconds to reach full light output. Since High Intensity Discharge HID lights are easier to focus the beam, they are much brighter than current LED configurations and HID lighting is preferred by divers given the superior intensity and tight beam focus.
Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) utilizes diodes that emit light when connected in an electrical circuit. The light effect is a form of electroluminescence where the Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) release photons outward. The Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) is usually in a plstic housing which concentrates the light source to the front of your car. Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) are not like ordinary incandescent bulbs because they don’t have the filament regular lights have. Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) bulbs are illuminated by the movement of electrons through a semi-conductor which allows them to be energy efficient and last much longer than conventional bulbs and can last thousands of hours. Unlike High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting, Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) turn on instantly similar to halogen lamps.
